The Old Depot Association, a non-profit and volunteer organization, was started in 1976 to protect and maintain the 100 year old Black Mountain train depot, and support the teaching of mountain and heritage crafts in the local Swannanoa Valley Schools. The Old Depot jury accepts only handmade, original crafts with emphasis on mountain and heritage crafts. All proceeds from The Gallery are given to The Association and is used to support mountain arts in our Swannanoa Valley Schools. The Gallery is staffed by volunteers of the community who enjoy The Depot and its goals. The Gallery displays the works of over 75 crafters.
